TCMA Annual Conference Inaugural College Bowl

Welcome to the TCMA Annual Conference Inaugural College Bowl. TCMA believes this will provide an exciting way to learn knowledge and skills critical for leadership roles in local government.

Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel, located at 1300 Houston Street in Fort Worth.

Mandatory Student Briefing/Registration and Check In
Thursday, June 27, 5:00-6:00 p.m.

A mandatory student briefing for college bowl participants will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please arrive early to check in. You will receive competition materials and all your competition and conference questions will be answered. Following the meeting, tables will be available to set up your research display and findings. Please note that electrical will not be available. All electronics will need to be fully charged.

FAQ

Q: Can more than 5 people work on the research project prior to the event?

A: Yes, anyone on your team can work on the research paper, but only five team members may present at conference.

Q: When is the research paper due?

A: You have until the start of the event to complete the paper. Findings will be displayed at the conference (see mandatory briefing above).

Q: Can more than one team select the same city as the subject of their research project?

A: Yes, there are no dibs! Choose the city you like.

Q: When will the research presentation begin?

A: The presentation will coincide with the Welcome Reception on Thursday, June 27, 7:30-9:30 p.m. You are welcome to participate and network at the Welcome Reception.; however, you must have a knowledgeable team member at your presentation table at all times. Secret judges will visit and ask questions.

Q: When will Contests 6 and 7 occur?

A: Saturday, June 29, 10:30-11:45 a.m., immediately following the General Session keynote address.

Q: What is included with registration? 

A: Those students participating in the College Bowl event receive complimentary registration. Registration includes access to all sessions, handouts, a conference bag, refreshment breaks, Thursday Welcome Reception, and a continental breakfast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

All of the following events are priced separately at $40 each: Friday Awards Luncheon, Friday Social Event, and Saturday Networking Luncheon. Tickets will not be sold onsite. If you would like to purchase a ticket, please contact Tristan@tml.org  no later than June 3.

Q: Who all needs to attend the briefing on Thursday evening? 

A: At least one representative should be present at the 5:00 pm mandatory briefing. Display tables will be available for set up, following the briefing. Tables should be set up no later than 7:30 pm.
